First Seed Order of the Year

Last year, I ordered most of my spring seeds from Baker's Creek.  This year I am trying a new seed supplier, the Hudson Valley Seed Library. They have a nice membership package; with a $20 membership you get your choice of 10 seed packets plus a "membership packet" of radish seeds. I thought they had a very nice selection of greens.

I ordered:

Amish Deer Tongue Lettuce
Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce
Blue Hubbard Squash
Braising Mix
Burgess Buttercup Squash**
Costata Romanesca Zucchini**
Early Yellow Crookneck Squash**
Mache
Baby Bok Choy
Rosa Bianca Eggplant

**Can you tell I just finished The Resiliant Garderner? It was excellent, I hope to have a review up next week.

I have a list of herb seeds to order that I will place sometime soon...mostly ordinary culinary things like thyme, marjoram, oregano, and the like. I also want to order some Good King Henry, one of the perennial greens mentioned in Perennial Vegetables. I'm also finalizing my choices for beans and tomatoes this year, to be requested from a fellow gardener on a forum I read. Once I've ordered herbs, beans, and tomatoes IO should be all set for seeds this year. I still have a lot left over from last year.

Have you ordered your spring seeds yet?

The Resilient Gardener looks good! I love your seed order. I need to get mache, as it is one of the greens that is especially good for winter gardening. Elliot Coleman says it will grow on an iceberg. I haven't placed my seed order yet. I am not allowing myself to go through the seed catalogs until I'm done with my book. Deadline is Feb. 15, and I am within 9,000 words of finishing my first draft, so I am almost there!

Deborah, I am anxiously awaiting your book!

I planted mache seeds this fall and did not get nay germination, but the seeds were a few years old. I'm hoping they will do better this year and I'll have a better cold frame or low tunnel set up for them. I really wish I had some greens in the garden right now!

I need to get organized for this year! Maybe a nice Blizzard Day activity.
